[Miru's Pokémon Pt Walkthrough - Part 23] Legendary Pokémon Shaymin & Form Change (Gracidea Flower)
This guide covers how to catch the legendary Pokémon Shaymin and how to change its form (Sky Forme) in Pokémon Platinum.
Preparing to Catch Shaymin
Currently, Shaymin can only be obtained using a cheat code.
First, use a cheat to get the [Oak’s Letter] item.
Once you have Oak’s Letter, you’re ready to begin!
Head to the Pokémon League.
Reversing Victory Road & Entering Route 224
From the Pokémon League, go backward through Victory Road.
This path should be familiar if you’ve cleared the game.
You’ll reach the end of the cave without much trouble.
Traveling with Marley & Foggy Area
You’ll team up with Marley, who will heal your Pokémon after every battle—very convenient!
(Tip: If you have Defog, use it here for easier navigation.)
There’s a lot of fog, which lowers move accuracy.
Using Defog will make things much easier.
Finally, exit the cave!
Route 224 & Meeting Professor Oak
Enter Route 224.
Continue along the road…
Marley appears again.
You’ll also meet Professor Oak here!
Shaymin Event & Flower Paradise
You’ll be prompted to think of someone you’re grateful for.
Who would you thank?
Shaymin appears!
Follow Shaymin…
A long, beautiful Seaside Path opens up—one of the most impressive scenes in the game.
At the end of the path, you’ll reach Flower Paradise!
You’ll meet Shaymin!
Shaymin reacts to your presence.
Now, it’s time to catch Shaymin!
Shaymin is surprisingly easy to catch—now it’s your Pokémon!
Shaymin Pokémon Info
Category: Gratitude Pokémon
Type: Grass
Ability: Natural Cure
Form: Land Forme (small, hedgehog-like appearance)
Signature Move: Seed Flare (special Grass-type, sharply lowers opponent’s Special Defense)
Catching Tips: Use status effects (Sleep/Paralysis) and Ultra Balls or Timer Balls for an easy catch.
Shaymin Form Change (Sky Forme)
Catching Shaymin isn’t the end!
Like Giratina, Shaymin can also change forms using a special item.
Go to Floaroma Town to get the form change item.
In Floaroma Town, you can obtain the Gracidea Flower.
When you use the Gracidea Flower on Shaymin…
Shaymin transforms into its new Sky Forme!
In this form, Shaymin gains the Flying type and its ability changes to Serene Grace, making it much more versatile in battle.
Sky Forme Shaymin looks completely different!
Sky Forme Shaymin Info
Type: Grass/Flying
Ability: Serene Grace (doubles the chance of additional effects)
Stats: Greatly increased Speed and Special Attack
Form Change Conditions:
Use the Gracidea Flower on Shaymin during the daytime to transform into Sky Forme
At night or if Shaymin is frozen, it reverts to Land Forme
Note:
In Pokémon Platinum, Shaymin is only accessible via the Oak’s Letter event (now only available through cheats).
You can meet Shaymin at Flower Paradise and use the Gracidea Flower from Floaroma Town to change its form.
