This is the final guide in Milu’s Pokémon Platinum series, focusing on how to encounter and catch the legendary Pokémon, Arceus, and use Plates to change its type and Judgment move!

What is Arceus?

Arceus is known as the “God” or creator Pokémon in the Pokémon universe.

In Pokémon Platinum, Arceus cannot be obtained through normal gameplay. The only official distribution in Korea was via a movie event (“Arceus and the Jewel of Life”), and the event item Azure Flute was never released internationally.

Currently, the only way to encounter Arceus in Platinum is by using cheats or Action Replay codes to obtain the Azure Flute.

How to Encounter Arceus

Use a cheat or Action Replay code to receive the Azure Flute in your Key Items.

Travel from Canalave City  to Mt. Coronet .

Climb to the Spear Pillar at the summit, where you previously caught Dialga and Palkia.

Proceed through the familiar area until you reach the altar.

At the altar, you’ll notice a different reaction compared to previous visits.

Use the Azure Flute at the altar. A staircase of light will appear, leading up to the Hall of Origin.

Climb the stairs to the top.

Arceus, the ultimate legendary Pokémon, will appear before you!

You’ll battle Arceus at level 80—a true test for any trainer!

If you want a guaranteed catch, use a Master Ball. Otherwise, lower its HP, inflict a status condition, and use Ultra Balls or Timer Balls for a challenge!

Congratulations—Arceus is now yours!

Arceus Pokémon Info

Category: Alpha Pokémon (창조신 포켓몬)

Type: Normal (but can become any type with a Plate)

Ability: Multitype (changes type and Judgment move based on held Plate)

Signature Move: Judgment (type changes with Plate)

Level: 80 (when encountered)

Catch Tips: Use Master Ball for certainty, or status + Ultra/Timer Balls for a challenge

Plate Type Change Feature

Arceus’s unique ability is changing its type and signature move by holding different Plates.

For example, holding the Icicle Plate makes Arceus Ice-type; Fist Plate makes it Fighting-type, and so on.

There are Plates for every type, and both Arceus’s type and Judgment move will match the Plate held.

Try out different Plates to experience all of Arceus’s forms and battle strategies!

Summary

Arceus can only be encountered in Platinum using the Azure Flute, which is obtainable via cheat codes or Action Replay, as the official event was never released internationally.
