Pokémon [PT Walkthrough – Part 9] Mt. Coronet (Catching Giratina)
[Miru’s Pokémon PT Walkthrough – Part 9] Pokémon Giratina Walkthrough – Mt. Coronet (Catching Giratina)
In the last walkthrough, you wiped out Team Galactic’s HQ in Veilstone City.
Now, Team Galactic boss Cyrus is plotting something suspicious at Mt. Coronet!
In this ninth part, you’ll finally encounter and capture the legendary Pokémon of Platinum version, Giratina, in a spectacular journey!
Head to Mt. Coronet!
First, head to Mt. Coronet!
The nearest city is Oreburgh City, so use Fly to get there quickly.
The Mt. Coronet entrance should be familiar by now—just proceed onward.
Quickly clear the first section by pushing boulders and defeating wild Pokémon.
Deeper into the Mountain with Rock Climb
Exit to the outside and use Rock Climb to ascend the slopes,
arriving at the path to Spear Pillar.
Arriving at Spear Pillar & Tag Battle with Rival
Finally, you reach Spear Pillar!
Team Galactic grunts appear!
This time, a 2-on-2 tag battle unfolds with your rival as your partner.
Your rival will heal your Pokémon, so battle confidently.
Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina!
Cyrus summons Dialga and Palkia, threatening the balance of the world.
But the three lake guardians you rescued appear and intervene!
At that moment, Giratina’s shadow emerges,
distorting space and dragging you into the Distortion World!
Distortion World – Puzzles and Giratina
You enter the Distortion World!
Complex puzzles and Strength challenges await.
Navigate moving platforms and solve Strength puzzles to progress.
There are three main boulder-pushing puzzles.
You must push the boulders into the correct spots where the lake Pokémon are waiting.
Beware of mini-boss battles before the final showdown!
There’s a chance to heal before facing the legendary Pokémon.
Legendary Pokémon! Catching Giratina
At last, Giratina appears!
Be sure to save before attempting to catch it.
Giratina is a unique Ghost/Dragon-type legendary Pokémon.
For the best chance of capture, lower its HP as much as possible and inflict a status effect like sleep or paralysis.
Use a Quick Ball on the first turn; if that fails, Dusk Balls are most effective (especially at night), and Ultra Balls are a solid backup. If the battle goes long, Timer Balls become more effective.
Avoid using your Master Ball unless absolutely necessary—save it for roaming legendaries.
Successfully catch Giratina!
You can progress the story even if you don’t catch Giratina, but it’s highly recommended to do so for your collection and future battles.
Escape the Distortion World & Sendoff Spring
To escape, combine Surf and Rock Climb to navigate the exit.
It may be a bit tedious, but follow the path calmly and you’ll make it out.
Remember the location of Sendoff Spring (Route 214)—you’ll need to return here to change Giratina’s form between Origin and Altered Forme later.
Congratulations on catching the legendary Giratina! Great job!
