Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Walkthrough Episode 15 – A New Journey Begins! Entering Kanto & Catching Legendary Pokémon Raikou and Entei

Finally, you've become the first Champion!

The Journey Begins at Home!

Your adventure starts right from your house!

First, head to Professor Oak's Lab.
Professor Oak informs you that you can now travel to the Kanto region. Feel the excitement of entering a new region!
You receive the S.S. Ticket and head to Olivine City to board the ship. But first, let's wrap up some Johto events!
Head to Ecruteak City.
Enter the house above Ecruteak City.
This is the Red Scale and Exp. Share exchange event. The Red Scale is the item obtained from the red Gyarados, and the Exp. Share is extremely useful for training.

Now it's time to catch the legendary roaming Pokémon Raikou and Entei!

Roaming Pokémon move to random locations, so follow these steps: 

① Check their location on the map 

② Travel to that area 

③ Search in the grass for encounters

Use escape-prevention moves like Mean Look or Shadow Tag, along with fixed saves, for stable captures.

Raikou captured successfully!
The difficulty is lower than expected.
Using the same method, Entei captured successfully! 

Entei joins your party.

※ Suicune can only be encountered through story events and will be covered separately later.

During travel, Dratini evolves into Dragonair! A powerful and popular Pokémon.
Now head to Olivine City to board the ship.
Arrived at the port!
Meet Professor Oak again, show your S.S. Ticket, and board the ship!
Departure!
Inside the ship, a quest begins to find an old man's granddaughter.
Search around the ship, find the little girl playing hide-and-seek, and bring her back.
After completing the quest and receiving your reward, the ship safely arrives at its destination.

Arrived at the first Kanto town, Vermilion City! The next episode will begin the攻略 from here.

Key Tips

  • The Red Scale and Exp. Share exchange is the best training value event before Kanto.
  • Raikou and Entei are roamers—check locations and prepare escape-prevention moves.
  • The S.S. Aqua event is a must-do after becoming Champion to enter Kanto.
