After exiting Route 206...

It seems like we're given a flag-like item here. Let's take it!

(But... what's it for? Haha!)


Now, it's time to catch a new Pokémon!

And it's... Gible!

This Dragon-type evolves into Garchomp. 

If you’re not interested, feel free to skip this step.


Most players enter the visible cave here, but...

I'll guide you to an easier one. 

That’s what guides are for, right? 😊


Avoid the visible cave!

Look closely under the bridge...


An NPC appears on Route 206, mentioning two caves!

While meeting them isn’t necessary, it’s a helpful hint.


The hidden second cave is slightly obscured under the bridge.

Use the photo as a reference to find it!


Enter Wayward Cave!

Immediately turn left upon entering.


You’ll find a path navigable without Flash.

As you explore, you’ll eventually find...

Gible! You’re mine now~!!

Wait! Don’t leave after catching Gible!

Grab TM Earthquake before exiting!

It’s one of the strongest moves—don’t miss it!


There are other items like Rare Candies to collect, so take your time!


Exit Wayward Cave and head towards Hearthome City, not Iron Island!

Don’t get lost. 😉

You’ll pick up various items along the way.

To reach Hearthome, you must cross Mt. Coronet.

Without HM03 Surf, you can’t explore Mt. Coronet deeply.

Follow the straightforward path for now.


Continue along the route and gather items as you go.

Finally, Turtwig evolves into Torterra!

Plus, it learns Earthquake—a fantastic combo!


Keep following the path...

Another evolution! Togepi evolves into Togetic!

Togepi evolves with high friendship and level-up, so this was quicker than expected.


Welcome to Hearthome City!

You’re immediately summoned to the Contest Hall.

Wait... Mom?!

But I’m not planning to enter any contests... 😂


No Gym Leader? Again?!

But don’t worry...


The Gym Leader is in the Contest Hall!

In Diamond/Pearl, you’d have to return later, 

but in Platinum, you can battle now!


Challenge the Hearthome City Gym!

The Gym layout is simple, making navigation easy.

As expected of a Ghost-type Gym, it’s filled with Ghost Pokémon.


Finally, earn your Third Badge!


Now, you can use HM05 Defog.

Although, let’s be honest—you’ll rarely need it. 😂


Bonus: Get TM Shadow Claw!

If you’ve been training Gabite, it evolves soon. Garchomp is within reach!

Don’t forget to grab items from the west gate of Amity Square.

From the east gate, pick up the Amulet Coin!

It doubles your prize money, so it’s a must-have.


Finally, Hearthome’s hidden gem: Eevee!

Take it with you!

(Still deciding how I’ll evolve mine... 🤔)


And that wraps up Hearthome City!
